Let your heart bloom…
If you like substantial pieces of jewelry, both in meaning and in actual weight, this one is for you.
This super chunky heart bloom is made with a process called sand casting, where we create a design in sand, add molten silver and hope it turns like like be planned! There are a lot of non-wins in sand casting…it’s a fickle process, requiring silver to be hot enough to fill the space you’ve made and that you’re fast enough to pour it before it cools down. This was a win though and I then soldered the heart onto the flower and added a bail.
It measures 1 1/2” wide, is 1 3/4” tall, including the bail and comes on a generously adjustable length of gorgeous black leather.
Reclaiming silver is important to me…it’s a way to give new life to old, broken jewelry and silverware or designs that didn’t make the cut. Even my work scraps are fair game! This beauty weighs in at 20.4 grams of sterling silver.
