Chunky silver, green turquoise…2 of my favorite things. I don’t get very much of the ‘greener’ turquoise to work with, so it’s quite surprising I am not keeping this one!
The thick silver made in my 5R design style gives a home to a great piece of Hubei turquoise, with it’s setting measuring 13/16” x 13/16”.
A wider band, in a size 7, measures 7/16” and hand stamped with the reminder to ‘grow’ on the back. It’s finished with a rich patina and soft polish to highlight that gorgeous stone.
*Reclaiming silver like I do takes much longer than using purchased, perfect sheet metal and that is just one of the reasons it is so special to me. In the extra time it takes to melt down old, broken jewelry or silverware I am reminded of just why handmade is so important. The process of seeing something that is no longer being loved become lovable again cannot be matched by anything else. It is worth every tired muscle, cramped hand and smashed finger…I love what I do and am so grateful you do too.
